In honor of the National Day of Service, January 19, 2009, Works of Wonder is pleased to sponsor the Community for Change, a local group of committed community volunteers in Nassau County, Florida who are conducting a food and clothing drive called "1000 Bags of Hope".
You can make a financial contribution online by clicking the "donate" button below, or if you live in the Nassau County area, you can drop off the requested items at the Peck Center in downtown Fernandina Beach at the address shown below. Your contribution will help to provide much needed supplies to the following local service organizations:
- Micah's Place
- Barnabas Center, Inc.
- Boys & Girls Club
- Salvation Army Hope House: America's Youth, Inc.
- Greater Fernandina Church of God Food Pantry
- Nassau County School District – Intervention & Prevention
Contributors are asked to bring the following items to The Peck Center, 516 S. 10th Street, between the hours of 3:00-5:00pm on Sunday, January 18th or 8:00am-5:00pm on Monday, January 19th, 2009.
- Non-perishable food, healthy snacks, juice/milk boxes
- Tuna, macaroni & cheese, peanut butter, beans, dry milk
- Household cleaning supplies
- Toiletries (toothbrush, shampoo, etc.)
- Baby supplies (diapers, etc.)
- New children's underwear, T-shirts & socks
- New or gently used warm clothing
- Child-sized backpacks & school supplies
